Kaitlyn and Jeff met the old fashioned way.... through Hinge.
While Jeff was visiting his family over the holidays in Napa California, he happened to scroll through Hinge and stumbled upon Kaitlyn's profile. Intrigued by a photo of her in a pink bucket hat, he knew he had to shoot his shot, and sent her a message that simply read, "Hey there!" After two very short exchanges, Kaitlyn's side of conversation fell silent. Knowing he had to try on more time, Jeff sent the infamous double-text (dun dun DUN!) that simply read, "Hey, I think you work with my sister". Surprised by this notion, Kaitlyn replied, and from there, a love story began.
On New Years Eve, Jeff finally asked Kaitlyn on their first date, and they decided to meet for drinks the next day. They challenged each other to create their 'dream music festival;' the perfect ice-breaker, as well as way to make snap judgements about each other's tastes and personalities...obviously.
New Years Day, 2023, Jeff famously told his dad " I'll be back in an hour or so". Little did they both know that their first date would last for nine hours. They connected on movies, art, music, and the same sense of humor. They say that it was after that first date, they knew that they were pretty much exclusive.
Like any relationship, it wasn't without its challenges. Namely, the fact that Jeff lived in Los Angeles, and Kaitlyn was in Napa. Despite the 400 mile distance between them, they always found ways to stay connected and build their relationship. Hour-long Facetime calls, every morning and night, and weekend trips to LA, quickly turned into Jeff spending more and more time in Napa. Finally, they made the decision to be together in Napa.
After a month of slowly moving Jeff's life up to Napa, and one very long U-Haul trip up I-5, Kaitlyn and Jeff were finally together in one place, ready to build their future, with Penny by their side, of course.
On June 2nd 2024, Jeff proposed to Kaitlyn on the beach in Bodega Bay, CA. After randomly getting a Sunday off from work, Kaitlyn suggested that they go to the coast. Jeff instantly knew this would be the perfect day. Though he'd had the ring for months prior and asked for her parents' blessing six weeks ago, he was waiting for a day off together to pop the big question. So, on the morning of June 2nd, they packed up their beach chairs and headed down the coast, making a quick stop for brunch. Once they arrived at the beach, Jeff found the perfect spot to set up camp. He took a little walk down the beach to scout his perfect spot, checking in with the photographer that he had also secretly planned for the surprise. Once back at the camp spot, he asked Kaitlyn to take a little walk with him down to the tide pools. She followed him down and he pointed down the beach a bit to "find the right spot." Looking away from him for just a moment, when Kaitlyn turned around she found Jeff down on his knee. Instantly in tears, and both of them instantly forgetting what was being said, she said yes to being his wife.
When thinking of a wedding venue for their special day, Lake Tahoe was a no brainer. With Kaitlyn growing up in Incline Village, and Jeff visiting Tahoe during his childhood, Lake Tahoe is their most treasured place.
Thank you so much for traveling here to celebrate with us this weekend! We are so thrilled to have you here.
